Margot's story
+++++++++++COURTESY POST+++++++++ Our beautiful Margot girl came to us when a good Samaritan found her and her sister sitting on the side of the highway next to their deceased mom. He couldn?t leave them there to suffer the same fate, so he asked if we could make space for them in the rescue. They were so sad when they got to us but have blossomed into loving and happy girls! Now that they are vetted, it?s time to find them forever families. Margot is a Hound/Lab Mix ? she has many houndy characteristics (long ears, long snout) and is just a beautiful girl! We are estimating Margot will be a good mid-sized dog in the 50-pound range when fully grown. She will be an ACTIVE dog while she continues to grow and an active and smart adult. She would be best suited for a family that can commit to consistently getting him proper exercise and socialization. She will be great running, hiking, adventure buddy for the right family. Margot currently lives with other dogs and loves having playmates. She would be great as an addition to a family with other dogs or as a single gal as long as her family commits to ongoing socialization. She has not been tested with cats, but given her age and general disposition, we think she would be fine with a kitty companion given a proper introduction. She has met and done great with kids and we think he?d be a great companion for a family with children that have been taught to be respectful of animals. Although Margot is an older pup, we don?t think she had the benefit of a loving family when she was growing up so she may have accidents and take a bit of time to acclimate into her new forever family. She will need a lot of positive guidance as she continues to grow and develop into an amazing family companion. Her family will need to understand and be committed to all of the challenges that come with a young pup, including potty training, chewing, kennel training, and separation anxiety that could be caused by leaving her pack. The best suited family will be one that understands that dogs can take time to acclimate to their new homes - which will likely include having accidents, crying in their kennel, and chewing on things they are not supposed to. Margot will be best suited for a family that can provide her with patience and positive reinforcement as she grows. We expect our dogs to be adopted by families who plan to keep them as indoor pets and part of the family. We do not adopt to families who plan to keep dogs outside for an extended period of time, for example the entire workday. Margot is one of the happiest girls you could hope to meet. She is very healthy and has been well cared for by her foster home. She has been fully vetted including vaccinations, spay, microchip and she has no known health or allergy issues.
